About

As a proven designer and educator, my constant goal is to ensure that the experience, curriculum, and pedagogy I deliver to students immerses them in the challenge to be creative, current, innovative, inclusive, and appropriate. As Department Chair, I have bolstered and motivated a faculty of more than twenty to oversee the growth of approximately 200 students of art and design majors and minors.

This dual role has enabled me to hold a broad and deep understanding of the design industry, its expectations, and its trends. The development of my own technical design skills has been a constant; skills honed as a design thinker, and creative storyteller across a multitude of platforms and technologies.

With an archive of work spanning more than 20 years, I am a specialist in the design of the poster, possessing a strong sense of aesthetics, utilizing various design elements such as typography, color theory, composition, and imagery to effectively communicate a message or promote an event or product. I have extensive knowledge of Adobe CC, and can effectively balance creativity with practicality to create visually stunning and professionally designed posters.

This breadth of experience and knowledge has also defined my ability to create, collaborate, and communicate, with academic colleagues, professionals in the design industry and the community. My career journey constantly refines my ability to succeed as a leader and in a team environment. These strengths are reflected in the awards I have received, ranging from the Caterpillar Inc. Award for Teaching, to the Mental Health Educator Award.

Always reaching for depth within my own creativity, I enjoy presenting my work, participating in numerous exhibitions, including a narrative of the indigenous people living along the Brazilian Amazon River. This solo photographic exhibition was accompanied by a book. I have also co-written a publication titled Graphic Design Portfolio Strategies for Print and Digital Media’, which became a required text book for many universities in the US and beyond. And a new publication based on a retrospective of my body of theatre poster artwork is gathering pace.

My goal is to continuously enhance my creativity and capabilities. If you come across any opportunities where my skills, experience, and expertise can bring value to your institute, organization, or business, whether it be as an educator, a creative individual, or both, please don’t hesitate to reach out and challenge me!
